Fourteen lawmakers missed ten or more consecutive parliamentary meetings

Fourteen lawmakers were absent from 10 or more consecutive meetings during the second session of the House of Representatives elected after the March 5 election.
According to details released by Speaker DP Aryal at the final meeting of the session, Nepali Communist Party’s parliamentary party leader and former prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had the longest consecutive absence, missing 24 meetings. He was unable to attend because he was hospitalised.
Nepali Congress lawmaker Yogesh Gauchan Thakali missed 20 consecutive meetings while on an international trip. Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Bidushi Rana was absent from 15 meetings while abroad.
Congress lawmaker Bharat Bahadur Khadka and CPN-UML lawmaker Mohammad Istiyak Rai each missed 14 consecutive meetings. Khadka cited a district visit, while Rai said he was absent for personal reasons.
Harina Devi Kami missed 13 consecutive meetings while observing mourning rites following the death of her father-in-law.
Bhumika Limbu Subba and Janak Raj Giri each missed 12 meetings. Limbu informed the Speaker that she was away because her daughter was receiving medical treatment, while Giri cited household responsibilities.
Eliza Gurung, Srishti Bhattarai and Khadak Shahi each missed 11 consecutive meetings. Gurung cited medical treatment, Bhattarai examinations and Shahi a district visit.
Gyanendra Singh Mehta, Indira Rana and Prakash Singh Karki each missed 10 consecutive meetings. Mehta and Karki cited district visits, while Rana said she was attending an international event.
The second session of the House lasted 62 days, during which 68 meetings were held. The attendance details were made public at the final meeting of the session.
