Expressing dissatisfaction over party’s decision to join the government, Parsa and Bara chairmen of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik (MJF-L) have resigned from the party. Most of the district committee members also announced to quit the party.
Organising a press meet in Birgunj on Monday, the MJF-L leaders announced to sever their ties with the party. Stating that the party leadership joined the government without addressing the Madhesi concerns, the disgruntled party activists said they would continue obstruction at the border points until their demands were met.
MJF-L Parsa Chairman Shashi Kapur Miya, Bara Chairman Om Prakash Chaudhary, central leaders Birendra Lal Nepali, Kalawati Paswan, Durga Devi Mahato, Majarul Haque Samani, Saroj Yadav, among others local leaders, announced to quit from the party. They charged that the Madhes-based parties participated in the prime minister election against the spirit of the Madhes movement. “Madhesi people burnt the new constitution as it is against Madhes and Madhesis. But the Madhes-based parties betrayed people by taking part in the PM election held under the very constitution,” said Miya. The disgruntled leaders said they would intensify protest in Birgunj without holding flags of any parties.
