Tension broke out at Sunauli entry point in Bhairahawa on Tuesday after the cadres of agitating Madhes-centric parties and anti-strike protesters engaged in stone-pelting.
The area became tense after the protestors in Nepal-India border, Dasgaja, hurled stones at the anti-banda protesters who were on the Nepali side of the border.
People from general public, apparently fumed by the long-drawn strike, took to the streets to retaliate against the banda. The anti-banda group included women, youth and children.
The anti-banda protesters resorted to retaliation after around 150 agitators in Dasgaja started hurling stones at them.
However, Nepal police took the situation under control.
