China has congratulated Nepal on the promulgation of the new constitution. Talking to reporter in Beijing Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei ‘sincerely congratulated Nepal and hope that the country would take this opportunity to realize national unity, stability and development.’

“China attaches great importance to relations with Nepal, and stands ready to further deepen bilateral friendly cooperation and provide assistance for Nepal's economic and social development to the best of her capacity,” said Lei.

Responding to a question on dissatisfaction among minority groups on the constitution and concerned expressed by India and other countries, spokesperson Lei hoped that differences would be resolved through dialogue.

“China sincerely hopes that all political parties in Nepal can bear in mind the fundamental interests of their country and the people, address the differences through dialogue and consultation, realize enduring development of the country and bring happiness to the people,” he said.
