NEPSE drops 9.62 points as turnover dips below Rs8 billion
Benchmark index falls for fifth straight session amid widespread sectoral losses.
Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index extended its losing streak on Monday, shedding 9.62 points to close at 2,610.76, a decline of 0.36 percent compared to the previous trading day.
This marks the fifth consecutive day of decline in the benchmark index, reflecting continued investor pessimism in the market. The downward trend has been attributed to broad-based losses across most sectors.
Trading activity also slowed, with turnover falling to Rs7.63 billion, down from Rs9.24 billion recorded on Sunday.
A total of 18.4 million shares were traded through 65,884 transactions during the session.
Out of the 246 listed stocks that saw movement, 86 advanced, 159 declined, and one remained unchanged.
Among the 13 sub-indices, only microfinance, mutual funds, and non-life insurance posted modest gains. All other sectoral indices ended in the red, contributing to the near double-digit drop in the NEPSE index.
