Butterfly Home gets Rs10 million from Prabhakar SJB Rana fund
The funds will be used for giving good nutrition, health, education and better growing up with love and care as these children would be the face of the country tomorrow, the endowment fund said in a statement.Post Report
The Prabhakar SJB Rana Endowment Fund handed over its contribution amount of Rs10 million to the CNN Hero 2012 and CNN Super Hero 2016 Pushpa Basnet for her children's home, Butterfly Home, on Sunday.
Butterfly Home gives shelter to children who are forced to live with their imprisoned parents in imprisonment or children who are in jail for their own crimes.
The funds will be used for giving good nutrition, health, education and better growing up with love and care as these children would be the face of the country tomorrow, if they are given a good environment with all those facilities and care, as per a statement issued by the endowment fund.
The fund was established by Maya Rana Tufo, in memory of her father Late Prabhakar SJB Rana who was a man with uncommon integrity, a consummate businessman and the acknowledged founder of o modern hospitality, tourism, hydropower and automobile industries in Nepal.
Rana had served the nation in various capacities, including as policy advisor to the government. He was a visionary businessman who had contributed to the country by bringing in foreign investments to enable Nepal to excel in industrial development as well as economic development. ITC, Bhotekoshi, TATA Motors and Soaltee are some examples that have contributed to the national economy.
In 1993, the late Rana established the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry to look into the bilateral economic relations between Nepal and India.
At the event, Shreejana Rana, president of the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted the qualities of the late Rana and the role he played in the economic and social development of the country.
Pushpa Basnet said that Rs10 million will be of great help in providing care to children at the shelter home.
