Goldstar Shoes, the popular homemade brand, made its foray into the US market on Sunday.
Kiran Shoes Manufacturers, the designer and producer of Goldstar Shoes, has collaborated with a US-based company, for the distribution of the Goldstar shoes across the US.
At the official launch event organised in New York, Amir Pratap JB Rana, chairman of Kiran Shoes Manufacturers, announced that Goldstar shoes will be available from designated outlets across the US.
"We are proud to bring the designs from the top of the world to the US. Goldstar has been widely known as an everyday brand. People from all walks of life, regardless of economic strata have chosen Goldstar as an affordable brand.”
“Goldstar's staple model, the 032 variant took Nepal by storm. And with each upcoming generation we successfully introduced Goldstar shoes,” said Rana.
Kiran Shoes Manufacturers that started its operation in the mid-1970s launched a mid-priced Goldstar brand to service in the price conscious market.
Goldstar shoes are now sold all over Nepal and India and gradually gaining popularity in western countries too.
The company envisioned Goldstar to be part of people’s lives in every continent of the world by 2025.
The company has also been producing Hathi brand hawai slippers, which was introduced in the early 1980s and now widely available throughout the country.
As per the company’s website, currently, more than 3,000 people are employed directly in five different operating units in Kathmandu, producing more than 75,000 pairs daily.
As per the company, it is the biggest footwear producer in Nepal maintaining an annual growth of 25 percent to 35 percent since the last 5 years. The company’s portfolio comprises more than 150 footwear products.
The Goldstar shoes brand long remained popular among the Maoists during the civil war period from 1996 to 2006.
