The new Dzire drops the Swift badge to foreshadow the comprehensive changes Suzuki made to one of their best selling cars. The new Dzire shares the HEARTECT platform first seen on the Suzuki Baleno. The new platform promises to make the car even lighter while making the car even more safer, reads a press release. This has led to the new Dzire shedding nearly 105kg from its previous version. The huge weight loss has allowed the Dzire to have better performance and handling attributes.
Powering the new 2017 Dzire is Suzuki’s tried and tested K12 engine, known for its power and mileage. The 1.2 litre VVT K12 engine churns out 83 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Combined with the weight reductions made on the car, the new Dzire manages to deliver a fuel efficiency of 22 km per litre, reads the press release. With a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres, the Dzire will be able to cover over 800 kilometres without breaking a sweat.
Compared to the outgoing model, the 2017 Dzire is miles ahead in terms of looks and features, reads the press release. The car is packed with all the modern amenities of a premium sedan like keyless entries, daytime running lights, auto AC with rear AC vent, diamond cut alloys. The car is also features state of the art infotainment system with Android Auto (first in Indian made cars) and Apple car play, housed in a large touch screen system.
The Dzire has increased its dimensions to accommodate the changes made to the car. This has allowed the Dzire to have better shoulder room along with more knee room. The boot capacity has also been expanded by 60 litres, to 378 litres.
Suzuki takes safety very seriously and will be offering dual airbags and ABS as standard in all variants. Other standard features include front seat belt with pre-tensioner and force limiter, immobiliser, seat belt warning lamps and buzzer.
