The objective of the fair is to spread awareness about software among the people and expand the software market in the country, said the organizers. The four-day expo will feature 140 stalls of local and international tech companies showcasing their latest products and services.

Companies related to software, computer education, account management, networking solutions, mobile solutions, security solutions, ISPs, telecom, broadband and cable TV, wireless solutions, banking solutions, printing and power solutions and training, among others, will be there. A wide range of smartphones, tablets and laptops will also be on display at the fair.

According to the organizers, the expo will also have enterprise services like production hosting, management hosting solutions, optimized enterprise internet and managed video presence.

CAN President Binod Dhakal said on Wednesday that the expo aimed to promote the domestic software industry by providing a platform to showcase the products and services of national and international companies dealing in software, networking solutions, mobile solutions and security solutions, among others.

“Nepal’s software industry is growing at a very slow pace as the government has not given priority to the sector,” he said. “We hope the expo will create a common platform to discuss various issues related with the tech sector among stakeholders.”

Event coordinator Bishwo Ram Balami said the expo would benefit the people by providing information about the latest developments in the information and technology industry.

According to him, the expo will also feature seminars and informative programmes related to cloud computing, e-governance and IT education, among others. “We hope to create positive vibes among the stakeholders to turn the country into e-Nepal,” he added.

The organizers said that there would be various schemes for visitors to the expo besides displays of new products. Midas Education in association with CAN will provide a free e-learning application worth Rs 400 to visitors.

Similarly, Era Soft Solution will launch its Onver Smart Taxi App at the expo. Sagar Infosys, the authorized distributor of Kaspersky in Nepal, said that it would provide a special offer on purchase of Kaspersky anti-virus software, Prestigio smartphones and tablets.

According to CAN Secretary Amrit Pant, 70 percent of the stalls have been booked so far. The organizers expect 150,000 visitors to attend the expo. Last year, the expo had attracted 131,000 people.
