The Language Commission submitted the report of fiscal year 2074/75 BS to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday. The commission chair Labdev Awasthi submitted the report to the Head of State at Sheetal Niwas.
In the report, the commission has drawn the attention of the government regarding the policy on national language and languages of the nation.
Thanking the commission for its effort, President Bhandari said the report would be forwarded to the government for necessary actions.
On the occasion, the President also expected that the concerned bodies would implement the report for the execution of the constitutional provision regarding the linguistic issues.
The report states that the tasks regarding the languages were not taken ahead as per the constitutional spirit. There has been no progress on the multi-lingual policy in the federal, provincial and local levels.
Commission Chair Awasthi said the report had drawn the attention of the government regarding the decreasing numbers of the Nepali language users.
The provinces are yet to decide on the provincial languages. The commission was formed to recommend developing and preserving the languages of the nation after holding the study and research in the areas.
