They also drew the government’s attention to diplomatic decorum that foreign ambassadors need to follow.
They have alleged that Rae has been acting against diplomatic norms.
The student leaders who met Mahat on Sunday represent CPN-UML, CPN-ML, Janamorcha Nepal, Nepal Majdoor Kisaan Party.
“Some of the activities of Indian ambassador regarding the amendment of the constitution are against the diplomatic norms,” they have claimed in the memorandum, referring to his meeting with some Madhes-based leaders last week.
They have also called on the government through Foreign Minister Mahat to create an environment where diplomatic missions and foreign ambassadors “do not interfere in Nepal’s internal affairs, especially concerning the constitution amendment process”.
Rajiv Pahari of Youth Association Nepal and Nabina Lama of All Nepal National Free Students Union urged Minister Mahat to put a check on arbitrary meetings held by foreign ambassadors with Nepali leaders.
“Such meetings should take place only after following proper protocol,” they said.
In response, Minister Mahat expressed his commitment to regulate the protocol-related matters at earliest.
