Four Additional Inspectors General of Police were finally assigned respective roles on Thursday, seven months after their promotion from the post of deputy inspector general.
AIGs Yadav Adhikari, Sushil Bar Singh Thapa, Parsuram Khatri and Bishwo Raj Shahi have been given their roles.
According to DIG Hemanta Mall Thakuri, spokesperson for Nepal Police, AIG Adhikari has been deputed at Research and Development Department, Thapa at Women and Children Directorate; Shahi will work as the technical director and Khatri has been posted at Nepal Police Hospital.
DIG Malla said all the officials have assumed their position as chiefs of respective sections at the NP Headquarters.
The four officials were promoted to the post of AIG in April, more than a year after a Supreme Court’s order to promote senior police officials.
However, the promoted officials had been signing their attendance at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).
MoHA on Tuesday instructed the NP headquarters to assign roles to the four AIGs.
The apex court on September 24, 2014 had directed the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), MoHA and Nepal Police Headquarters to promote four DIGs to the post of AIG.
The DIGs had moved the court, stating that despite their capabilities they were not promoted while their juniors were elevated to the post of AIGs.
