NRCS runs blood donation drive
In a bid to avoid blood shortage during the Tihar and Chhath festivals, the Bhaktapur branch of Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) has been running a blood donation campaign at Kamal Vinayak, Surya Vinayak, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Thimi, Bode in Bhaktapur, and Ason in Kathmandu.In a bid to avoid blood shortage during the Tihar and Chhath festivals, the Bhaktapur branch of Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) has been running a blood donation campaign at Kamal Vinayak, Surya Vinayak, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Thimi, Bode in Bhaktapur, and Ason in Kathmandu.
Manoj Kumar Thapa, the president of NRCS, Bhaktapur, said they have already collected more than 100 units of blood.
Unlike last year, Thapa said, we hope there will not be any blood shortage during this Tihar and Chhath festivals.
The Kathmandu Valley had witnessed one of the worst blood shortage during last festival season.
According to the NRCS, Bhaktapur, it has already supplied 25 units of blood to Human Organ Transplant Centre and another 25
units to Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital. Several units of blood were also sent to various health institutions in Kathmandu.
Besides, the NRCS, Bhaktapur, has also registered more than 100 people on its emergency blood donors’ list, who will be available whenever there is a need.
Other than the NRCS, Bhaktapur, Birendra Sainik School, Fresh Doner’s Committee Chamasing, and Khwopa College are also actively involved in the blood donation campaign.
