Cold weather has affected normal life across the country with the onset of winter. However, people are braving the chilly weather to carry on with their daily lives.

Various parts of the country are witnessing a relatively warmer days for the past one week with the maximum and minimum temperatures rising slightly.

The drop in temperatures were usually recorded in the last week of December to the first week of January. The plummeting temperatures have mostly affected the people living in shanties and huts.

Impoverished families are hard hit by cold wave, as they do not have warm clothes, blankets and heating facility. Several people die of hypothermia during the winter each year .

This winter , at least 12 people have lost their lives due to severe cold in the Kathmandu Valley. In Bhaktapur too, three persons were said to have lost their lives to cold.
