“Not a single truck has been allowed to pass,” said businessman Raju Maharjan to the Post, “We are being hassled for no reason.”
The SSB has tightened the passage of trucks carrying clinker, petroleum products, coal, marble and vegetables among others. All the goods carrier lorries have been grounded at Panitanki customs near Kakadbhitta in Jhapa distict. “Indian SSB has stopped the trucks cleared by the customs,” said another entrepreneur Jiwan Niraula, “SSB officials cited security reasons when we urged them to let go of the trucks.”
Likewise, former Pradhan Pancha of Ranigunj Gram Panchayat, Handru Urau informed that the SSB turned down their request to ease the passage of trucks saying that it was an order from New Delhi.
