The Ministry of Defence situated inside the main administrative complex of Singha Durbar built during the time of Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher has been damaged and the office of the ministry has been shifted to the National Security Council Secretariat.
Ministry's spokesperson Surya Kanta Panthi said that problem has been created to manage the branches of the Ministry and provide office rooms for the officials in the limited space of the Council.
The fate of Ministry of Youth and Sports is similar to that of Defence Ministry. And as a result, the officials are forced to carry out their regular duty from a makeshift office established in the open space as the building got a red sticker from engineers.
The office of the Ministry of Youth and Sports had been shifted to Singha Durbar just five and a half months ago from the Kamalpokhari-based Public Service Commission (PSC) office.
Office operation has been a tough job due to lack of an alternative space of the Ministry, assistant information officer at the Ministry Om Kumar Shrestha said.
Likewise, the Ministry of Labour and Employment is also facing the problem of space constraints like that of Ministry of Youth.
Ministry's Assistant Information Officer Jiban Kumar Rai said that the office building of the Ministry is in a dilapidated condition for 17 years since the office was shifted from Bagbazaar to Singhadurbar.
The administrative building of the Vocational Skills Development Training Centre of Ministry of Labour based in Bhainsepati is also completely cracked and it is not livable, Acting Director General Janakraj Regmi said.
The wall of the ground floor of the building has fallen and the trainees have been sent home by postponing the vocational training after the earthquake, he added.
Furthermore, four office rooms of the Foreign Employment Promotion Board in Anamnagar have been damaged in its rented-building. RSS
