Leaders throng Khula Manch to pay last tributes to Bogati

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel, UCPN (M) Vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara, among other leaders, paid last tributes to late Vice-chairman of the party.
Likewise, CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya and General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana, Madheshi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato, among other party leaders, reached Khula Manch in the Capital to pay their last respects to late leader Bogati.
Similarly, CIAA Chief Lokman Singh Karki, Nepal Police Chief Upendra Kanta Aryal, Armed Police Force Chief Kosh Raj Onta, industrialists and social figures reached the venue to pay tributes to late Bogati.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bamdev Gautam, CPN-UML senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung, CPN Unified Chairman Chandra Dev Joshi, among other leaders, reached UCPN (M) headquarters at Perisdanda to pay final tributes to late Bogati.
Meanwhile, party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal draped Bogati's mortal remains with the party flag and paid tributes to the deceased leader.
Moreover, UCPN (Maoist) has decided to lower the party flag at half mast for three days to mourn the death of leader Bogati. The meeting of the party held today further decided not to conduct any activities of the party for these days.
Bogati, 62, was pronounced dead at around 7:25 am today. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Sahid Gangalal National Heart Centre in Bansbari, Maharajgunj, on Thursday where a heart operation was carried out. He was then transferred to Thapathali-based Norvic Hospital.
Short biography of Bogati
Bogati was born in a lower middle class family at Tupche VDC-2 of Nuwakot district in 2010 B.S. He was the son of father Bhairav Bahadur Bogati and mother Lekh Kumari Bogati.
He married Ram Maya Bogati in 2035 B.S. Bogati is survived by his wife and two daughters. His son Ravi was killed in 2058 B.S. in Dhading district.
All the family members of the late Bogati are active in politics and have taken different responsibilities in the party.
Political career and responsibilities
Bogati had started his political career from 2035 B.S. Bogati was attracted towards leftist politics due to family and social background.
Bogati had joined the communist party led by Pushpa Lal Shrestha in 2034 B.S. and associated with the United Fourth General Convention, another leftist party, in 2037 B.S.
He became Chairman of the All Nepal Peasants' Federation in 2044 B.S. and led the peasants’ movement. He was the district Secretary of Masal in 2040 B.S. and served as regional Bureau member in 2043 B.S, central member in 2044 B.S, Karnali In-charge in 2048 B.S, and standing committee member.
After the former Maoist rebels joined the peace process, Bogati served as Western Command In-charge and he also became party secretary. The Seventh National General Convention of the party held in Hetauda unanimously elected Bogati as its General Secretary. He became Vice-chairman of the party after the national conference held in Biratnagar in May this year.
Bogati represented the UCPN (Maoist) in the Constituent Assembly (CA) election held in 2064 B.S. from Nuwakot district. He was assigned as the Chief Whip of the party in the CA. Bogati also took the charge of Ministry of Information and Communications in the Jhalanath Khanal-led government in 2068 B.S.
He also became Minister for Energy, Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation in Baburam Bhattarai-led government in 2069 B.S. Bogati had served jail term time and again during the Panchayat rule. He was known as an honest and dedicated leader.
