Melamchi water pipeline bursts in Thapathali, causing road collapse
Authorities working to repair the damage.
Post Report
A section of the road in Thapathali collapsed after a Melamchi water distribution pipeline burst on Monday night.
The incident occurred on the road leading to the Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital. Following the pipe burst, the water supply was cut off in the affected area.
Municipal workers have been clearing the site and repairing the pipeline with the help of excavators since Tuesday morning. The water overflow has also inundated nearby houses and shops.
Earlier, a road collapse occurred in Babarmahal area on February 12, following a rupture in a Melamchi Water Supply pipeline. The incident led to significant waterlogging, disrupting vehicular movement and affecting traffic flow in the vicinity.
The rupture was attributed to drilling activities conducted by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) during the installation of underground cables.
