A school principal in Salyan died after he was hit by lightning on Monday evening.

The deceased is Dal Bahadur Karki, 56, a resident of ward 1 in Kalimati Rural Municipality-1.

Karki, who was the principal of Kalidevi Primary School, was struck by lightning while herding cattle near his home, police said.

Karki died on the way to the hospital, according to Police Inspector Bhawani Prasad Dhamala of the District Police Office, Salyan.

The body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.
