Nepal reports 659 new Covid-19 cases, nine deaths
According to the Health Ministry, the countrywide death toll has now reached 11,157 and the number of active cases stands at 17,642.Post Report
Nepal on Saturday reported 659 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 796,618.
Similarly, 208 people tested positive in a total of 2,621 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Saturday, 4,221,093 PCR and 583,711 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,598 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported nine Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 11,157. The number of active cases stands at 17,642.
According to the ministry, 767,819 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,123 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 255 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 164 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 65 in Lalitpur and 26 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 134 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 17 in Province 2, 292 in Bagmati, 64 in Gandaki, 77 in Lumbini, 48 in Karnali and 27 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, nine districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 19 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Saturday, 350 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 112-33 in Province 1, 64 in Bagmati, five in Gandaki, six in Lumbini, and four in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 898 new coronavirus cases and 13 deaths. Similarly, 898 new coronavirus cases and 12 deaths were recorded on Thursday and 892 new coronavirus cases and eight deaths were reported on Wednesday.
