Nepal on Friday reported 961 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 775,548.

Similarly, 185 people tested positive in a total of 2,367 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Friday, 4,008,046 PCR and 505,138 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 8,549 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 21 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,924. The number of active cases stands at 27,958 and the rate of infection positivity is 11.24 percent.

According to the ministry, 736,666 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,660 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 354 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 257 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 56 in Lalitpur and 41 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 280 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 31 in Province 2, 434 in Bagmati, 122 in Gandaki, 71 in Lumbini, 15 in Karnali and eight in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, 15 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 21 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.

On Friday, 458 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 145-36 in Province 1, 88 in Bagmati, five in Gandaki, 12 in Lumbini and four in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Thursday reported 1,058 new coronavirus cases and 14 deaths. Similarly, 1,347 new coronavirus cases and 10 deaths were recorded on Wednesday and 1,423 new coronavirus cases and 21 deaths were reported on Tuesday.
