With 8,136 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 472,354
The Health Ministry reports 196 new deaths including figures from past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Tuesday reported 8,136 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 472,354.
Similarly, 67 people tested positive in a total of 693 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 196 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 5,411. The number of active cases stands at 114,529.
According to the ministry, 352,414 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 6,891 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 2,635 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 2,049 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 365 in Lalitpur and 221 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 1,234 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 515 in Province 2, 3,921 in Bagmati, 650 in Gandaki, 1,042 in Lumbini, 458 in Karnali and 316 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 40 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 17 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
As of Tuesday, 2,812,959 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 20,286 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
On Tuesday, 1,590 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 390—43 in Province 1, 46 in Province 2, 244 in Bagmati, 24 in Gandaki, 16 in Lumbini, seven in Karnali and 10 in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported 9,198 new coronavirus cases and 214 fatalities. Similarly, 7,316 new cases and 145 Covid-19 related fatalities were reported on Sunday and 8,046 new cases and 187 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded on Saturday.
