Bagmati holds police to a gritty draw in ANFA Women’s League
The result edges Bagmati closer to the playoffs while denting Police’s qualifier hopes.Post Report
Bagmati Youth Club displayed remarkable resilience to hold departmental rivals Nepal Police Club to a goalless draw in the ANFA Women’s League match on Saturday, moving closer to securing a playoff spot. The result, however, dampened Police's chances of advancing directly to Qualifier One.
The match, held at ANFA Complex in Satdobato, saw Bagmati not only neutralising Police’s attacking efforts but also maintaining their offensive play throughout. Notably, this is the second time Police has been held to a goalless draw in the league, with a similar result earlier against Chandrapur.
Bagmati now sits in fourth place with four points, maintaining a four-point lead over bottom-placed Waling. Police remains in third position with 11 points but is now likely to face an eliminator match as a result of the draw.
The league’s playoff picture will become clearer after Sunday’s match between Army and Waling, which will finalise the top four teams and their seeding for the playoffs.
