The Ministry of Youth and Sports has issued a warning to the National Sports Council (NSC) for failing to act on complaints lodged at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) against the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
The ministry has also sought clarification from the NSC over what it described as non-compliance with official directives.
In a letter sent on May 6, the ministry said the NSC did not implement instructions from the anti-graft body to proceed with action, including internal investigation measures, in cases linked to the national cricket governing body.
It cited CIAA communications issued on December 1, 2024 and March 5, 2025, which had recommended further action, including possible suspension, but said these were not carried out.
The ministry has asked the NSC to submit a written explanation, along with supporting documents, under Section 29 of the relevant law, explaining why action should not be taken against CAN.
Describing the letter as a final warning, the ministry has directed the NSC to move ahead with the necessary procedures.
The dispute relates to findings from a probe committee led by former NSC board member Ranjana Pradhan, which concluded that procedural irregularities took place during the first edition of the Nepal Premier League. The committee had also noted that CAN failed to provide key documents during the investigation.
