Priyank Panchal struck a blistering 90 runs as Karnali Yaks posted 166 for 3 against Chitwan Rhinos in the second match of the Nepal Premier League at the TU International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur on Tuesday.
Chitwan won the toss and chose to bowl, but Karnali made a rapid start, racing to 50 runs inside 5.4 overs without losing a wicket. Panchal and Max O’Dowd put on 61 runs for the opening stand before O’Dowd fell for 20 off 30 balls in the ninth over.
Panchal dominated the innings with clean hitting, reaching his half-century off 28 balls. His knock featured seven boundaries and six sixes, giving Karnali strong momentum through the middle overs. He was dismissed for 90 off 48 balls after being caught by Dev Khanal off Ravi Bopara, falling short of a maiden NPL century in the 16th over.
Mark Watt added 16 before falling at 140 for 3, while Pawan Sarraf provided a late lift with an unbeaten 27 off 16 balls, hammering three sixes. Najibullah Zadran remained not out on four.
For Chitwan, Saif Zaib bowled tidily with figures of 1 for 15 from three overs. Sohail Tanvir took 1 for 26, and Bopara claimed one wicket for 18. Other bowlers struggled to contain Karnali’s top order, with Rijan Dhakal conceding 36 off three overs and Kushal Malla giving away 29 from his spell.
