Nepal concluded their maiden ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign with a seven-wicket victory over Malaysia in the fourth-place playoff at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval in Johor, Malaysia on Friday.
Both Nepal and Malaysia had already been eliminated from the tournament after failing to progress to the Super Six stage.
Electing to field first after winning the toss, Nepal restricted the hosts to 45 all out in 16 overs, with skipper Puja Mahato delivering a mesmerising spell claiming 4-9 in 3.5 overs.
Rachana Chaudhary also starred with 3-5 from her three overs, while Riya Sharma and Seeman KC took one wicket apiece for Nepal.
Malaysia’s Nuriman scored 15 runs off 23 balls to provide the highest and only double digit score of the innings.
In response, Nepal encountered a slight wobble losing openers Sana Praveen for one and Sabitri Dhami for three.
But Mahato stepped up once again, scoring an unbeaten 23 off 32 balls to steer Nepal to victory in 11 overs, at 47-3.
Pakistan also ended their World Cup with a 52-run victory over Samoa.
