Light rainfall and snowfall likely in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces
Officials at the Meteorological Forecasting Division say dense fog and mist will continue in the Tarai region on Monday and Tuesday.
Post Report
Light rainfall is expected in some parts of Sudurpaschim and Karnali province on Thursday night and Friday, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
“High hills and mountainous areas of the said provinces and of Gandaki Province will witness snowfall,” the weather office forecasted.
Samir Shrestha, senior divisional meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, said weather will remain generally clear in the rest of the provinces. “Dense fog and mist caused by the western disturbances will continue in the districts of Tarai region,” he said.
Daily life in most districts of the plains has been affected by the chill in weather caused by fog and mist.
Lack of rainfall for a long time and the absence of strong winds have contributed to increasing pollution levels in the country. A thick fog in the mornings has been causing disturbances in vehicular movements in several districts.
The country has not witnessed any rainfall since the end of September. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology had earlier predicted low rainfall and above-average temperatures in most parts of the country between December 1, 2022 and February 28, 2023.
