Haas-mandu, a fundraising comedy show organised by Round Table Nepal (RTN), took place on Friday at Rashtriya Sabha Griha in Kathmandu.
RTN is an INGO of non-political and non-sectarian young men between the age group of 18 and 40 with the motto ‘Adopt, Adapt, Improve’.
Previously, the organisation has hosted fundraising events such as movie screenings, talk shows, and Girls on Wheels—a scooter treasure hunt for girls, among others. Similar to these events, the comedy show proved to be a success, drawing a significant audience.
The show kicked off with a performance by popular stand-up comedian Suman Koirala. His portrayal as Dale Dai and humorous take on the perks of visiting America, along with satirical commentary on Nepali corruption, garnered much applause.
Similarly, Subodh Gautam’s mimicry of various political leaders, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, left the audience yearning for more.
The main highlight of the event was stand-up comedian and actor, Sandip Chhetri. The audience who were waiting eagerly for his performance erupted in cheers and whistles when he entered the stage. The show ended with Chhetri’s witty jokes and his performance on the song ‘Tu Lagawelu Jab Lipastic’.
During the event, the audience had the opportunity to participate in lucky draws with prizes such as AirPods, one-night stays at hotels, smartwatches, and more. The organisers intend to continue hosting such comedy events in the future.
