The highlight of the show, organisers say, is the daily collaborative-interactive performance wherein the audiences are invited to join in the creation of an artistic reality together.
The show will have nine artists, musicians, actors and poets who come together to produce an experience and engage the audience “who will not only enter and be entertained by the characters that the artists have created but also become a part of the whole experience.”
The exhibition—which features forms of art such as acting, music, painting and installations, and a poetry recital—is divided thematically into six distinct stages represented by six rooms. Starting with the room of “infantile creativity, an outburst of emotions, openness and spontaneous joy,” as the organisers put it, the show draws a full circle on the sixth room wherein “life and death, the rational and irrational meet rhythmically to create a whole person.”
Director and producer of the exhibit, Anand Suvam, said that the exhibition is a summation of “the otherworldly experience” that he had, once upon a time. “This is what triggered the spiritual search within me,” Suvam states in his Artist Statement, “I started reading books to figure out the experience I had but nothing made sense to me until I read Osho. This led me to devote myself entirely to spiritual search and I spent the next fourteen years of my life at Osho Tapoban. About a year ago, I again started to feel restless and I started to sense something emerging from within me gain. This exhibition is the result of that stirring.”
Along with Suvam, the exhibit will see performances by artists Akrit Shrestha, Bhushita Vasistha, Milan Neupane, Minusha Maharjan, Nischhal Pradhan, Prasanna Shah, Prasong Rupcha, Rubeena KC and Sugam Subedi.
WAKE will be on show till October 12; an interactive performance art piece will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 pm every day from 7 to 12 October.
