The project is supported by the Nepal Tourism Board with whom the Circus has worked closely.
Circus Kathmandu, known for acrobatic and aesthetic performances, is also notable for its rehabilitation work with children trapped in bonded labour situations in Indian circuses.
Their new project is expected to introduce a new dimension to the local entertainment market
as well as to tourism, by offering enthralling shows that draw both foreign and local crowds.Additionally, a successful project ensures independent livelihoods for the young circus performers. Organisers are hoping the event can become “a permanent cultural and artistic feature to be offered to visitors” as well as a sustainable source of funding for social initiatives including human rights and anti-trafficking—initiatives that Circus Kathmandu is already involved in.
The event will take place on July 6 and 7 at the International Club, Sanepa, Lalitpur from 6pm to 7pm.
