Kathmandu

Film and Media Knowledge Seminar, helmed by the famous Indian director Subhash Ghai is slated to take place at Hotel Annapurna in the Capital.

The event will focus on the many facets of filmmaking from production and distribution to screening in order to enhance the audiences’ tastes. The event is being organised jointly by Kantipur Film Academy and the Mumbai-based film school Whistling Woods, of which Ghai is the chairperson. Ghai is credited for giving actress Manisha Koirala a break in Bollywood in his 1991 film Suadagar and has produced hits such as Khalnayak, Pardes and Taal.

The seminar, according to organisers, will focus on media knowledge, mobile filmmaking, scriptwriting, and fashion design, among others. Accompanying Ghai at the seminar will be noted personalities from Bollywood such as scriptwriter Anjum Rajabali, fashion designer Nisha Chand, filmmaker Rabiya Naajki, and Nepali director and media personality Dinesh DC, among others.

Speaking about the event, Prakash Puri, CEO of the Kantipur Film Academy, said that the seminar will help expound upon the current discourse of Nepali filmmaking, and will pertain to issues such as fashion designing for films and media, and will seek to expand their current trajectory.

The one-day seminar will take place from 9 am to 6 pm on June 3.
