The fourth edition of the Little Theatre Garage, a theatre workshop for children, concluded on Wednesday with the staging of three plays put together by the participating child actors.
The final day of the fifteen-day long workshop saw the staging of the plays Ma Joker Banchhu (written by Shanta Das Manandhar); Topi; and Musa ko Katha.
Kedar Shrestha, one of the facilitators of the workshop and director of Theatre Centre for Children (TCC), directed the two plays Ma Joker Banchhu and Topi; Elina Nakarmi directed the play Musa ko Katha; while Sanjita Parajuli choreographed the dance sequences in the play.
Ma Joker Banchhu is about the psychological transformation of an abused child while watching a circus act, while Topi is based on folklore and tells the story of an affinity with a hat knit by the protagonist’s mother. The fable Musa ko Katha narrates the story of love and cooperation between a family of mice.
The annual workshop is organised by ASSITEJ Nepal, and is being held for the last four years.
The workshop took place at Nepal Japan Children’s Library in Lainchaur and saw participation of a total of 29 children.
