The program claims to be flexible to the needs of participants as it allows for them to pursue their own academic research.
The fellowship does not include a salary but selected fellows will be provided a monthly stipend to cover housing, meals, and ground transportation. Besides providing health insurance, the programme also ensures a round-trip economy airfare from the fellow’s place of residence to Washington, DC, and back. The programme also covers the costs of applying for and obtaining a US visa.
The fellowship is open to women journalists worldwide whose works focus on human rights and social justice issues. Journalists working in print, broadcast and/or Internet-based media, including freelancers, are eligible to apply though they must have a minimum of three years professional experience [internships do not count] and Non-native English speakers are expected to have “excellent” written and verbal English skills.
One can apply online via the IWMF website.
The deadline for applications is March 6, 2018.
