Actor Sunil Thapa is slated to make a comeback in the Nepali film industry with the upcoming feature Sher Bahadur.Actor Sunil Thapa is slated to make a comeback in the Nepali film industry with the upcoming feature Sher Bahadur.
Thapa first appeared in Bollywood’s Ek Duuje Ke Liye, in 1981, since which he has appeared in over two dozen Nepali, Tamil, and Hindi films, including titles such as Mashaal, Chino, Mary Kom, and 10 Endrathukulla, among others.
Speaking about his role in Sher Bahadur, Thapa has said that the film will change the way the Nepali audience have known him so far. “So far, the audience know me as Rate Kainla, now they will probably recognise me as Shere,” he said.
In Sher Bahadur, Thapa stars as a former army man who is blind. Preparing for the role, Thapa said, he even went to an eyecare hospital and took tips from the doctors, “so as to give the character the depth it deserves.”
“But the role of the army was not all that hard for me personally,” Thapa added. “My father was an army personnel, and I could mold the role according to his personality. Also I went to an army school, so it was relatively easier.”
Directed by Raj Rajbanshi, Sher Bahadur features actors Karma, Menuka Pradhan, Rabindra Jha, in the lead roles. The film will hit theatre across Nepal on February 2.
