Pinkathon, which is the brain child of Soman and Reema Sanghavi, will be held in Kathmandu on Feb 24 and will include 3K, 5K, 10K, and 21K races.
This is the second iteration of Pinkathon Kathmandu.
Speaking to media persons in the Capital, Soman said that the Pinkathon is more than just a race and seeks to bring together women from all walks of life to a single
platform. “Yes, Pinkathon raises awareness about breast cancer, but it also seeks to bring women together and strengthen the community,” Soman said.
In the first iteration of Pinkathon, held in February last year, over 2,500 women participants ran the various races. At the Pinkathon, each runner signs up for a nominal fee of Rs 600, with the proceeds going towards various awareness and intervention programmes.
“Pinkathon is held in eight cities in India annually and the reason we brought it to Nepal is because we saw that desire to host an event here was immense,” said Soman, “It is also why we have come back with a second event in a row. We hope to see the same level of enthusiasm this year as well.”
