The announcement was made during a meet-up between the band members in Kathmandu recently.
Project One will include members from heavyweights of Nepali music such as Mukti and Revival; Robin and the New Revolution; Abhaya and the Steam Injuns;
The Shadows; and Anuprastha, among others. The band will also include guitarist Hari Maharjan, the gypsy jazz maestro.
The band has adopted the tagline “Feri Uthnechha Nepal.”
The merger was led by event-management company Bandwagon by Positive Vibes.
Founder of the company Bikesh Kayastha said that the newly-formed band is historic for it is perhaps the first time that so many bands have come together as one in the history of Nepali music.
“We are currently going through discussions on how to lead the band. The new band will release its first album sometime early in 2018,” said Kayastha. “The band will tour cities across Nepal once the album is released.”
