Giri, Subedi make it to semi-finals
Nepal’s Aryan Giri and Aadit Subedi entered the boys’ singles semi-finals of the Kesha Group ANLTA Nepal Circuit 1 Asian U-14 Junior Tennis Championships on Tuesday.
Nepal’s Aryan Giri and Aadit Subedi entered the boys’ singles semi-finals of the Kesha Group ANLTA Nepal Circuit 1 Asian U-14 Junior Tennis Championships on Tuesday.
Giri inflicted a double bagel defeat on compatriot Chirag Timilsina, while Subedi saw off fellow countryman Aarav Singh Hada 6-4, 2-6, 6-0. Garv Bahl and Rushikesh Sunkara of India joined them in the last four. Bahl swept past Nepal’s Aaditya Subedi 6-0, 6-1 and Sunkara got the better of Sivasamy Ramalingam Nathin Ram of India 6-0, 6-0.
Three Nepali girls made it to the semi-finals in the singles’ event including Prerana Koirala, Saloni Tamang and Rayana Shah. In an all-Nepal quarter-finals, Koirala breezed past Isha Shree Shah 6-1, 6-0, Tamang beat Sharvani Shrestha 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 and Shah eased to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Lumu Tso Lama. The Nepali trio were joined by India’s Riya Matharoo, a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Nepal’s Sneha Yadav, in the last four.
Subedi brothers Aaditya and Aadit advanced into the boys’ doubles semi-finals beating Indian pair of Harisharan Baskaran and Nathin Ram 6-1, 6-1. Bahl and Sunkara beat Nepali duo of Giri and Hada 6-3, 6-1. Koirala and Tamang sidelined Prachi Mantri of India and Shubhangee Laxmi Shah of Nepal 6-3, 7-5 in the girls’ double quarter-finals. Isha Shree and Sharvani also sailed into the last four beating India’s Matharoo and Nepal’s Rayana 6-4, 7-6 (4).
