The series this year will feature the band Abhaya & the Steam Injuns, alongside singer Aastha Raut and actor and former Miss Nepal Malina Joshi. The tour is slated to start September 30 onwards.
“Women in Concert tour intends to encourage and inspire women from the Nepali diaspora residing in the US,” organisers said. “Our goal is to encourage women and provide a platform for them to shine.”
The organisers informed that a talent hunt will be hosted, alongside the concerts, the winners of which will be provided a chance to perform with the participating acts.
The month-long tour will start with a show in San Francisco on Sept 30, and will then travel to cities such as Los Angeles, Cleveland, Indianapolis, before coming to a close in Boston on October 29.
The organisers have said that part of the proceeds from the tour will go to support charity organisations—Adhikaar, a New York based non-profit working with Nepali community there on issues such as human rights and social justice; and Soarway Foundation, which has been working towards the rehabilitation of the victims of the recent Tarai-floods.
