Poet Seema Aavaas’ new anthology of poetry, Ma Stree Arthat Aaimai, which has been nominated for this year’s Madan Puraskar, was discussed amid a function held at Aarohan Gurukul in Biratnagar on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, Aavaas expressed her disappointment at the way the women are treated in the 21st century Nepal. Aavaas said that the anthology Ma Stree Arthat Aaimai is her attempt to look at the condition of women in Nepal through new lenses. The anthology, Aavaas’s second, following 2007’s Saajh ko Sanghaar Bata, comprises a total of 38 poems.
Speaking at the function, poet Manu Manjil said that Aavaas’s poems are progressive and feminism-oriented. “Aavaas’s poems celebrate female courage and fearlessness,” Manjil said.
