In that vein, The Local Project Nepal threw open its doors to customers on Saturday, with a diverse selection of ‘made in Nepal’ utility and artisan goods.
The store currently hosts 20 local brands that range in categories such as bags by Mheecha, apparel by Bora Studio, stationery by Studio Sarcastic, games by Allare, and story books by Amuse.
“We have run this store for two months already and the response so far is really good,” says Binam Shakya, co-founder of The Local Project Nepal. He adds, “Our aim is not only to promote local producers but also have a manifold effect that benefits the associated native and indigenous workers and resources used.”
According to Shakya, encouraging production and sale of 100 percent locally made products is important to aid young entrepreneurs to take their endeavours to new heights.
The store is located inside the premises of Evoke Café and Bistro, Jhamsikhel. The offers for their grand opening will continue through Sunday, the founders said.
