The May edition of the Paleti music series will feature artist Bidhan Shrestha, it has been announced.

Paleti series, after a long hiatus, resumed last month, with a performance by poet/lyricist Dinesh Adhikari. Paleti, the organisers say, aims to revitalise Nepali contemporary  music and close the gap between artists and the listeners.

“I am glad to be performing at the Paleti stage, where many artists I admire have performed,” said Bidhan, speaking about his appearance. “This musical show will be a special one for me as this is my first solo concert in my two-decade long musical career,” he added.

Bidhan Shrestha is known for songs like Machhi Marna Jaau Dajai Kalapani Ma, Buhari Jhar Jhain, Aja Nachche Meri Gauri, and Kanchiko Allare Jovan, all of which the singer is slated to perform during the show.

“Bidhan has a unique originality in his songs,” said Paleti coordinator Aavaas. “He is among my favourites of his generation and this session of Paleti signals Paleti’s opening to the new generation of creators as well.”

The show will take place on May 26 at Nepalaya’s R shala premises.
