Artist Bangdel has to his credit four poetry anthologies while his paintings have been featured in more than two dozens of exhibitions around the country. Speaking to the Post, Bangdel says, “Poetry and paintings are two most important parts of my life and to have an event where both of them can come together is almost like a dream come true.”
At the event, Bangdel will be performing most poems that he wrote as a teenager and some that he wrote recently. The paintings that will be up on display will be from his earthquake collection; he painted them in the aftermath of the disaster. He says, “Both my paintings and poetry will collectively echo the essence of human emotions such as hope, and beauty of life.
The two series of paintings at the exhibit are titled Season of Hope and Geet Govinda.
Octave Kathmandu, which has previously hosted monthly fashion bazaars, is hosting a painting exhibition for the first time. Speaking about the exhibit, Bijeta Vaidhya of Octave says, “Lately, we have been providing a platform for upcoming fashion designers through our fashion bazaar with much sucess. We wanted to expand our wings and provide a platform for artists too and this event is our first step towards that endeavour.” She adds, “Bangdel is an amazing artist, poet and a figure many of us look up to, so we are hosting him as our first featured artist.”
According to Vaidya, Octave will be continuing their artistic events in future by hosting various poetry events.
The exhibit and poetry recitation will take place at the premises of Octave on Thursday, 5: 30pm onwards.
