The book was unveiled by cultural expert Satya Mohan Joshi.
The novel tells the story of two individuals—Pemba from Nepal and Linda from California—and chronicles their union and falling apart. In so doing, author Pandey, who is currently based in the US, explores the pushes and pulls of cross-cultural relationships. Speaking at the event, critic Mahesh Paudyal lauded the book for bringing to the fore the clashes of culture and value systems. “The book brings into discussion some serious theoretical issues concerning migration and Diasporisation in a globalised world we live in,” he said.
Chief guest Joshi said that the book is remarkable because it bridges two different cultures of the world.
Chair of the function, Radheshyam Lekali, announced that the book will soon be translated in Nepali and published by Sajha Prakashan.
The book has been published by Varja Books, Kathmandu.
