Scholar Bhattarai honoured in Damak
Damak Municipality has honoured scholar Dr Tulasi Prasad Bhattarai amid a programme held in the city on Wednesday.
Damak Municipality has honoured scholar Dr Tulasi Prasad Bhattarai amid a programme held in the city on Wednesday.
Former member-secretary of the Nepal Academy, Bhattarai was honoured for “promoting Damak nationally and internationally through the medium of language and literature,” according to the executive officer of the municipality, Yubaraj Dahal. Speaking at the function, Bhattarai said, “I urge the concerned authority to keep issues concerning language and literature away from politics.” Bhattarai also pointed the necessity for a comparative study of languages spoken in the East.
Bhattarai has authored about two dozens of books in various genres such as fiction, travel writing, essays and translations. Bhattarai has also held various positions in government offices: He worked as a counselor of Radio Nepal (1990), as chairperson of Gorkhapatra Sansthan (1996) and as member-secretary of Nepal Academy.
