Dharan to see a new theatre house

The foundation of the theatre house was laid by litterateur and Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Music and Drama Saru Bhakta.
The theatre, expected to be completed by 2019, will accommodate 100 people. Dharan, a one-time theatre hotspot, had slowed down in the last two decades. Theatre artists and enthusiasts have seen the initiative to open new theatre house as a beginning of the renaissance of Dharan’s drama scene.
Speaking to the Post, engineer and vice-chairperson of Aarambha Group, Sachin Chettri, informed, “The to-be made theatre hall will be earthquake-resistant and mobile.”
Speaking at the event, Sharu Bhakta said, “Dharan is one of the most vibrant of theatre hubs in the country, given the fact that it has been producing plays and actors since a long time. The establishment of this theatre house will further help strengthen Dharan’s unique drama tradition.”
