Musician Divya Jyoti has come up with an album, Sannidhya. Though Jyoti is already popular in the Nepali music scape—having lent her voice in Nepali films as a playback singer—Sannidhya is her first solo album. 

Speaking to the Post about her debut, Jyoti, who is also a television journalist and a women right activist, said, “Since I have been dabbling in classical music for quite a while now, I thought this was the right time I put out an album.” Jyoti, who is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in classical music, added, “Sannidhya is an experiment. Most of the songs have a certain adhunik tinge to them. Overall, I have tried to fuse both classical and modern music sensibilities, in an attempt to put out something that veers away from the current strain of Nepali music.”

Composed by Chandan Kumar Shrestha, a classical music teacher, the songs have been penned by several established songwriters.
