Martin Travers to work with Nepali urban artists
The Kathmandu Contemporary Art Centre (KCAC) and the Siddhartha Arts Foundation’s Education Initiative are organising a series of events with Martin Travers
The event will see Travers presenting his works with marginalised youths and communities today, at 4 pm, and facilitating a masterclass on professional development for Nepali urban artists on April 16 (from 10am to 4pm).
Travers is an international street and visual artist as well as a muralist, who has travelled around the world, conducting art workshops, painting murals and participating in different community art projects. He works towards building positive creative alternatives for ‘at risk’ youth and communities, in which he specialises as a workshop facilitator.
Four artists from the masterclass will then be working from April 17 to 20 on a commissioned mural on the British Embassy wall. The mural, which will launch the year-long celebration of the bicentenary of bilateral relationship between Nepal and Britain, will try to encapsulate the friendship and goodwill between the two countries in a contemporary manner.
The masterclass and the subsequent mural is being supported by ArtLab.
