Celebrated classical vocalist Kaushiki Chakraborty will be performing at the Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi, on December 15.

Kaushiki, who is the daughter of veteran Indian classical singer Ajoy Chakraborty, is well-known for her vocal mastery and is recognised for the tonal variations, dynamics and timbre adjustments in her voice. She belongs to Patiyala Gharana, one of the most prominent Gharanas in the history of Indian classical music.

She started singing at the age of 16 and has a number of awards and musical albums to her name. Kaushiki is also the recipient of the BBC World Music Award 2005 and Sangeet Natak Academy Award 2012.

At the event, Kaushiki will be accompanied by the Nepali Sitar maestro Dhrubesh Chandra Regmi, senior sarod player Suresh Raj Bajracharya, tabala maestros Rabin Lal Shrestha and Navraj Gurung, and other members of Doyens of Nepal.

The programme starts from 4:45 pm onwards. The tickets are priced at Rs500, Rs1,000, Rs1,500, Rs3,000 and Rs5,000, and are available at Imago-Dei (Nagpokhari), Nepa Music (Thamel) and Moksh (Jhamsikhel).

The proceeds from the event will go to the children of Atul Memorial Music Gurukul, and will also help Nyano Sansar by providing blankets.
