Kathmandu
Mandala Theatre is currently staging Swan Lake, a famous ballet piece by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, a 19th century Russian composer. The play—originally fashioned from Russian folk tales—has been directed by Mohhamad Nazjir Hussian and Namrata KC.

The musical revolves around the story of three swans-the Black Swan, the White Swan and the Swan Queen. While the Black Swan has a beautiful smell, the white one has beautiful feathers. The Black Swan’s attempts to woo the Swan Queen fall apart, when she wrongly assumes that it’s the white one who’s got the lovely fragrance. Later, when confronted with the truth, she does something totally unexpected. The piece has been adapted into theatre as well as live action films in many instances since the musical piece was originally composed. In 2010, it was adapted into a thriller flick titled Black Swan that starred Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, and Mila Kunis.

The musical drama is choreographed and performed by Anzel’s crew, a dance troupe with years of experience in performing and directing such events in town. Suraj Malla plays White Swan in the musical, while Mohhamad Nazjir Hussain dons the role of the Black Swan. The Swan Queen is being played  by Kripa Bajracharya. The play starts at 5:15 pm.

Today is the last day of the show
