On this Valentine’s Day, the Jayanti Memorial Trust (JMT) is hoping to awaken hearts—in more ways than one. As it did last year, JMT will be hosting a special event to mark the day of love.
From One Heart to Another will be more than a V-day party, it’s primary objective being to spread the word on the importance of taking better care of one’s heart, the organ associated with love and romance. The event, organised in collaboration with the Hotel de l’Annapurna in Durbar Marg and Qatar Airways, will be collecting funds to support less-fortunate sufferers of cardiac ailments.
While the charitable cause is one part of the programme, to be touched upon in a presentation that will kick off the proceedings, the second part comprises a joint venture between the trust and the Egyptian Embassy.
Titled Egyptian Night, guests will be treated to a showcase of Egyptian culture and cuisine, complete with belly-dancing performance and buffet-style Egyptian dishes. “We’re hoping to use this opportunity to promote cultural and scientific collaborations between Egypt and Nepal,” said Moustafa Gendy, the Egyptian Ambassador to Nepal.
The JMT is a non-profit organisation founded by the late Helen Shah in memory of her daughter, the late Jayanti Shah, whose lifelong ambition was to “make cardiac care readily available to the Nepali people.” The organisation has been working with Dr Bhagwan Koirala and his team and various governmental bodies working to aid people fighting with cardiac disease.
The event will start at 7 pm
